Parshat Shoftim this week is brought to you by Y-Love, your favorite Modern Orthodox Jewish Hip Hop Superstar!
I spent the night in Teaneck, NJ with Y-Love and our mutual friend Marino after a Shemspeed gig. It was awesome. Walking down the suburban NJ streets talking about Hashem and how we’re going to take over the world.
The key to this parshah is Moses telling the Hebrews to remember who they are and how they got this far. He’s worried that once they get into the promised land, that they’ll think they got there off their own strength, and without the help of G_d and Moses.
Having to read Parshah Va’etchanan kinda pissed me off. Here’s poor Moses, who works his ass off, deals with whiny Hebrews kvetching in the desert, and then G_d says, “Hey guess what Moses, you don’t get to see the promised land!”
And you know what, it’s just not fair!
